Privacy Policy

CampRadar — Effective date: May 19, 2026

Plain-language summary: CampRadar collects the minimum information needed to run the service — your username, email, campground watch preferences, and device token for push notifications. We do not sell your data, track your location, or show you ads. Payment is handled entirely by Apple — we never see your payment details.

CampRadar ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding your data. By using CampRadar, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only what is strictly necessary to provide the service:

We do not collect your full name, phone number, physical location, GPS coordinates, browsing history, payment card details, or any information beyond what is listed above.

2. Payment Information

All payments for Premium subscriptions are processed exclusively by Apple through the App Store. CampRadar does not collect, process, store, or have access to your payment card details, billing address, or any financial information. For questions about billing, please contact Apple Support or visit your App Store subscription settings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral profiling, marketing, or any purpose beyond operating the CampRadar service.

4. Push Notifications

CampRadar uses Apple Push Notification service (APNs) to deliver campsite availability alerts. Your device token is stored securely on our server and is used exclusively to send you notifications you have requested. You can disable push notifications at any time in iPhone Settings → CampRadar. Disabling notifications does not affect email alerts.

5. Email Alerts

We send availability alert emails to the address you registered with, using a third-party transactional email provider (currently Resend). Your email address is transmitted to this provider solely for the purpose of delivering alerts you have requested. We do not send marketing emails, newsletters, or promotional content. You can disable email notifications at any time from the Profile tab in the app.

6. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with third parties for commercial purposes. We share data only in these limited circumstances:

7. Third-Party Reservation Systems

CampRadar monitors publicly available campground availability data from Recreation.gov and ReserveCalifornia. We do not create accounts on these systems on your behalf, store your credentials for these systems, or interact with them in any way beyond reading publicly available availability data. CampRadar is not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party systems.

8. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account (Profile → Delete Account), all personal data — including your email address, username, campground watches, alert history, and device tokens — is permanently and immediately deleted from our servers.

To prevent abuse (such as re-registration by banned accounts), we retain a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address and username after deletion. This hash cannot be reversed or used to identify you and is used solely for abuse prevention purposes.

9. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

No method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we take reasonable precautions, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

10. Children's Privacy

CampRadar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us at privacy@campradar.co and we will promptly delete the information.

11. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to deletion, and the right to non-discrimination. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at privacy@campradar.co.

12. Limitation of Liability for Privacy Matters

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CampRadar's liability for any privacy-related claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for privacy breaches caused by third-party services (including Apple APNs, Resend, or DigitalOcean) or by unauthorized access to our systems despite reasonable security measures.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of CampRadar after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you do not agree to the updated policy, you must stop using the service and delete your account.
